Awkwafina

American musician and actor Awkwafina debuted with sly hip-hop tracks that addressed sexuality and racial identities with a an incisive and humorous perspective, before expanding her reach into Hollywood. Nora Lum, born in Forest Hills Queens to Chinese and Korean immigrants, was her first music experience. She was a trumpet player. Following her Jazz and classical training her interest in hip-hop grew as a teen. After concentrating on education, she was awarded a degree in journalism in the college as well as a women's studies major. After graduating, she began to focus on music. In 2012, My Vag (as a retort to Mickey Avalon's My Dick) became an internet sensation and featured in her debut LP Yellow Ranger. This album also featured viral hits such as the body-positive Queef or winking hometown tour New York Bitche$. The latter song was linked directly with another Awkwafina project NYC Travel Guide, which was published in 2015. A musician and author was as her credentials, she determined to pursue a third endeavor actor. Along with early series like Girl Code, Tawk and Bad Rap she also appeared in movies such as Neighbors to Storks. Her breakthrough came in 2018 with a few high profile films, including Dude Ocean's 8 as well as Crazy Rich Asians. That June she issued the EP in Fina We Trust.
