Carey was a high fashion model, who measures at nearly 5'10" she was a favorite of American fashion houses like Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren. Her father is an accomplished geologist who was voted Scientist Of The Year 1979, at the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists. In the course of his professional career Carey was raised all over the world. When she was a student at in the University of Colorado, Carey started modeling for a side. An agent from Ford model agency in New York noticed her and was willing to assist. In 1980, she moved to France for a brief period of time, and lived in Paris and Bordeaux but returned back to New York in order to continue an acting career. She appeared on Vogue as well as Glamour covers. While modeling as she studied in full-time a major in literature at New York University. As time passed, she was drawn to acting, and began studying at the Neighborhood Playhouse in New York. In 1986 she made her first appearance as an actor with a small character on the show "Club Paradise" in the film "Club Paradise" with Robin Williams. White water rafting, skis and rock climbing are her favorite things to do.
